Here are some pics from the arrival of the U.S. U-17 Women's World Cup Team in the capital city of Baku on Sept. 18. The team went through customs there before traveling south to Lankaran for its first match.
So far, the organization in this country of just over 9 million people has been excellent and the American players thoroughly enjoyed the greeting they received at the airport.
They all got flowers (and who doesn't love getting flowers?) and got to meet the official mascot of the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, Top Top Girl. Top means ball in Azerbaijani and when kids speak about "playing ball" they refer to it as playing "top-top."
