US Club Soccer’s id2 Program Updates Format Ahead of 2021 Season

Following a year of uncertainty, US Club Soccer is fueled and ready to return youth soccer players to the playing fields nationwide. The notable youth soccer organization will hit the ground running with an updated format for its National Id2 Development Program. The news comes at a time when youth players are stepping back on the fields with tournament season approaching.

YOUTH SOCCER NEWS: After a brief hiatus due to COVID-19, US Club Soccer has announced the return of the id2 National Identification and Development Program with a new format for 2021.

Free to all participants, the id2 Program is an opportunity for players to be identified, scouted and developed through a progression of events offered by US Club Soccer. These events include regional selection events and national training camps, culminating in the selection of an id2 National Team for additional developmental experiences.

US Club Soccer will host approximately 10 regional-based id2 Selection events from May to October 2021. These events will consist of one-day programs that will include scouted tactical training sessions followed by 11v11 match play.

Selected players will advance from the regional events to participate in an id2 National Training Camp where 18 players will be chosen to make up the id2 National Selection Team.

The new format for 2021 provide more events and create additional scouting opportunities for players.

“US Club has persevered through an incredibly difficult year,” said Tricia Taliaferro, id2 Girls Program Director. “The 2021 format will allow us the opportunity to scout more players in their own training environment and in more territories across the country. We are excited to get the program re-launched and believe this will create a better experience for the players, coaches and directors.”

This year’s eligible participants include boys born in 2008 and girls born in 2007. For more information on the selection process, please visit here.
