In the eyes of many, the U.S. U-20 WNT went into the 2012 U-20 Women's World Cup semifinal in an unusal role: underdogs. Coming off a 3-0 loss to Germany in its Group D finale, and facing a North Korean team that had rolled through group play by scoring 15 goals, by far the most in the tournament, while featuring no less than 10 players from its 2012 Olympic, well, you can see why the Asian power was perhaps the favorite.
The USA then put together its best game of the tournament, and what has to rank as one of the best performances in the USA's youth Women's World Cup history, to pull out a 2-1 victory and advance to the semifinal. The USA got two great goals, one seven minutes into the second half on a wonder-strike from Vanessa DiBernardo and the game-winner eight minutes into overtime from Chioma Ubogagu.

Great attacking from both teams, great defender, quality ball possession, the USA taking the lead, surrendering it, and then getting it back in overtime. There were some great saves from both goalkeepers, drama to the end and nothing left on the field by either side.
Kealia Ohai was a menace on the flanks for all 120 minutesThe win earned the USA a semifinal match against another tremendously strong side - Nigeria - who advanced to the final of this tournament two years ago only to fall to host Germany.
The USA-Nigeria clash will kickoff 3 a.m. local on Sept. 4 with coverage beginning at 2:50 a.m. on ESPNU and ESPN3.
