The U.S. Women’s National Team will wear game jerseys and pre-game warm-ups embellished with a Boston Strong logo for the match on June 15 vs. Korea Republic at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
With the support of the Players' Association, all of the jerseys and warm-up tops will be signed by the players and auctioned off on ussoccer.com to benefit The Victim Relief Fund of The One Fund Boston. All proceeds will assist the families of the victims who were killed and the victims who were most seriously affected as a result of the tragic events during the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013 and related events on April 18 and 19.
The U.S. team has been training outside of Boston since Tuesday and on Thursday trained in a downpour. Hopefully the weather will be better when the U.S. team holds a public training on Friday, June 14 at 11 a.m. inside Gillette Stadium. All fans are welcome and should enter through the Bank of America gate.
The USA has been training with 19 players -- three of them goalkeepers -- for four days as the three players currently based in Sweden -- Christen Press, Meghan Klingenberg and Yael Averbuch -- did not arrive until Thursday evening. Megan Rapinoe will arrive on Friday evening.
All the U.S. players are healthy and eligible for selection as U.S. head coach Tom Sermanni will suit up 18 players for the match. U.S. goalkeeper Hope Solo is on the training camp roster for the first time since February after fully recovering from wrist surgery.
The USA’s domestic matches against the Korea Republic on June 15 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. and on June 20 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J. will be the final ones of the summer and last internationals before the end of the NWSL season. After these games, the players will get back together next after the conclusion of the club campaign with yet to be determined international friendly matches currently being planned for the fall
