We All Have A Part to Play

U.S. Soccer Asks Soccer Community to Watch and Share this Message

U.S. Soccer’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. George Chiampas, has released a video to remind everyone that we each have a part to play to assure that we are following key guidelines from the CDC.

“Six Easy Steps for Coronavirus Prevention.”

#1 Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

#2 Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

#3 Cover your mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, then throw the tissue in the trash.

#4 Avoid close contact with people who are sick

#5 Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

#6 Stay home when you are sick.

Additionally, U.S. Soccer asks that all of our participants incorporate fist bumps on the walkouts and post-game as we support our communities at this time.

A couple of thoughts: When was the last time you cleaned your phone? Washing your hands is a definite must but cleaning your cell phone, which is put down everywhere, is also important.

And, Fist bumps have just started to be frowned upon by the World Health Order and even elbow bumps are being questioned by some who recommend social distancing. A hand across the chest is now the preferred way of greeting … but it may be hard to replace the physical contact of at least a ‘bump” between players after a serious 90-minute match where they have been trading sweat beads.
