Happy Birthday Becca (and Kelly)

[FONT=georgia, palatino]If there is one thing that the U-20 WNT has learned in its short stay in Japan so far is that that Japanese know how to do birthdays.

Forward Becca Wann, who turned 20 today, as well as forward Kelly Cobb, who turns 20 on the 26th, were given gifts after training by the local organizers here in Hiroshima. The two strikers were surprised and humbled by the gifts, which were presented in front of the whole team.

Becca and Kelly get birthday gifts
Forward Chioma Ubogagu was thinking that maybe she'd be included in the birthday celebrations, but she turns 20 two days after the World Cup ends so she just missed the cut-off for fun gifts and cake. Bummer.

Wann even got a home-made birthday card which (as you can see below) went above and beyond. Of course, most of it is in Japanese, but we're sure the sentiments were genuine and heartfelt and she now has a great birthday souvenir for the end of her teenage years.

At team dinner that night, Becca was presented with a spectacular birthday cake the likes of which we've rarely seen on a WNT trip.

Thanks to all of the Japanese who, as always, have been wonderful hosts so far.
