Soccer Players Do Not Back Down After Court Ruling
There have been so many statements on the key ruling, but a strong voice that resonates worldwide is Julie Foudy’s. Here are a few of her statements.
Hard to imagine winning the FIFA World Cup last year and losing in court but that is the current reality. When the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT) filed the discrimination lawsuit against their employer U.S. Soccer, few thought that this case would get to trial or that they would lose a key ruling.
None of the players on the championship soccer squad are giving up.
There is a lot of support for the women’s push for equal pay. Presidential candidate Joe Biden tweeting out support for the players and made headlines around the world, threatening to pull World Cup funding to U.S. Soccer unless the pay gap was equal — if he has that power.
