Alexa Rispoli Receives Eastern New York’s Masotto/Driscoll Scholarship

New York Soccer News: Alexa played three sports at Mahopac High School

The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) is very pleased to announce that Alexa Rispoli is receiving a Patricia Louise Masotto and Brenda Driscoll Scholarship. The award is based on success in high school as well as community service.

Alexa was on the High Honor Roll and received the Scholar/Athlete Award at Mahopac High School while doing advanced coursework. She played varsity soccer and lacrosse, captaining the latter, as well as running varsity track during the winter.

The Mahopac resident has been a certified referee and assistant referee for the past three years.

In her essay, she wrote, “I grew up in the Mahopac Soccer Club, then subsidized my training by working with professional players an hour away from home. A normal high school day would consist of waking up for school, utilizing the 45 minutes between the end of classes and practice to do homework, practicing for a couple of hours at high school, eating dinner in the car to travel Upstate for a 2-hour training session, doing more homework and studying on the way back to finally arriving home at 10:30 pm.

The scholarship’s namesake, Patricia Louise Masotto and Brenda Driscoll, were best friends and top women’s soccer players from Massapequa, Long Island, and Eastern New York set up a scholarship in their name after they were killed by a drunk driver in 1985.

We wish Alexa the best in studying and playing soccer at Wagner College.
