Southern California’s Tessa Troglia Works Hard For Youth Soccer Players

New beginnings are always exciting. Here is a new start for an experienced youth soccer Coaching Director and her teams as they join California’s FC Premier.

The youth soccer landscape in Southern California is always shifting with the movement of coaches and players but this month, there is a significant change

Tessa Troglia has officially accepted an offer as Director of Coaching with FC Premier in Whittier. Troglia recently left her role as Director of CDA Slammers in Whittier, a Southern California youth soccer club which she kicked off nearly five years ago. A well-known coach in Southern California, she also helped with CDA Slammers Diamond Bar FC.

As one of the few female youth soccer directors in Southern California, Toglia, who holds a USSF B’ License, has coached on multiple levels and has been a staff coach with both Cal South and Nevada Youth Soccer Association‘s ODP programs. In addition, Troglia volunteered with Carrie Taylor on the Cal South Women’s Committee.

A coach at La Serna High School for 13 years, she has coached her team to a league title every year and claiming the title of CIF Champions twice.

Troglia has also served as the Women’s Head Coach at East Los Angeles College for 12 seasons and led her collegiate squad to the playoffs three times.

“FC Premier offers coaches and players real value,” says Troglia. “They invest in their coaches through partnership tools, and every coach receives free “Coerver” trainer and with a diploma valued at $495 value. If coaches wishing to pursue a higher coaching license, FC Premier reimburses the coach over a 3-year period.”

“Our youth soccer families will be able to experience the “Coerver” sessions weekly at no cost,” says Troglia. “We will also have access to a weight room, where I will hold several strength and conditioning, nights for our older athletes.”

Troglia says she has learned aligning with forward-thinking people who truly care about soccer coaches and youth soccer families is essential. Proud of how FC Premier invests in their coaches when not a lot of other youth soccer clubs do, Troglia believes a lot of youth soccer families can become confused by clubs that talk the talk but do not really walk the walk.

“It is easy for players and their families to lean toward status or brands that preach pathways, but in reality, only the 1% are really benefitting.”

“In order for players to get better, coaches have to be better,” says Troglia who looks forward to collaborating with FC Premier’s Executive Director Dave Sabet. “This is is the best decision by far for both me and the community.”

FC Premier’s Mission: Using soccer as a tool to grow the individual to become great contributors in society.

“I love their partnership and association structure with So Cal Blues. For those youth soccer teams wishing to play under Blues banner, only those specific teams pay the costs associated with Blues’ club there are no affiliation fees that the rest of the teams are impacted by,” says Troglia.

FC Premier’s core values reflect the desire to develop players on and off the field. The core values include:

  1. Discipline
  2. Selfless Commitment
  3. Relentless Positive Energy
  4. Progressive Growth Mindset
  5. Excellence
  6. Integrity

FC Premier Whittier joins FC Premier Huntington Beach, Los Alamitos, Long Beach, Downey, Cerritos, Garden Grover, and the club in El Paso, Texas. With what Troglia believes will be reasonable player registration costs, which include the youth soccer league fee, FC Premier is providing this director of coaching and her teams a new home to grow and develop.
