The U.S. Olympic Women's Soccer has arrived in England for its pre-tournament training camp and the excitement is building. It was a long (especially for the West Coasters) but smooth trip for the U.S. team (just a five hour flight from Newark! Hello tailwind!), which flew into Manchester before hopping a bus north for a three-hour bus ride to its training base in Darlington.

In between Manchester and Darlington? Lots of rolling hills and farmland. LOTS of farmland.

If the players were anxious to hit the field and stretch their legs, they didn't get the chance, as heavy rains saturated the fields and the U.S. coaches decided to have a gym workout instead, which suited the players just fine.

Tomorrow will be a sight-seeing day for the U.S. team as they continue to get acclimated to the time difference, and then Friday will see a return to the pitch to ramp up the Olympics prep.

The U.S. players got a small, but warm reception from a few U.S. fans and local organizers upon arrival in Manchester (see above) and the players were more than happy to sign a few autographs.
