We've been told that the typhoon season is at its highest in August and September so it was a surprise when a heavy and steady, but certainly not a cold rain pelted the U.S. players during their entire training session today. It didn't seem to bother the team or the coaches, who actually embraced the adverse conditions as a chance to get better and more used to the weather should they have to play a match in the wet stuff.
Sure, there were a couple of big spills as the field was covered in puddles of standing water, and yes, we got some good video that'll we'll post on ussoccer.com shortly, but overall the play was sharp and productive.
Even if most of the players looked like drowned mammals on the bus ride back.
Yes, it took awhile for Kelly Cobb and Mollie Pathman to untangle their ponytails, but that's the price you pay as an international soccer player
