The U.S. Women’s National Team remained atop the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking, which were released last week. The Americans are still ahead of Germany and Japan, followed by Brazil, Sweden and France.

The USA is close to breaking two new records.

The U.S. WNT are just six points away from overtaking its highest-ever number of points of 2233 (May 2010) and seven points away from overtaking the highest number of points ever achieved in the ranking, which was 2234 points for Germany in 2005. Just one win against a top-ranked team will see the U.S. Women break the record.

The FIFA Women’s World Ranking will be published on August 2, 2013, and the Americans do not have a game between now and then.
