Wednesday is (now) a national holiday in Honduras

With the importance of winning games at home, gaining a competitive is both a typical and critical part of the process. Its why Mexico plays in the altitude and smog at Azteca, Costa Rica plays in the cauldron at Saprissa, and the U.S. plays in Columbus in February. For this game, Honduras has gone even one step further.

Scheduling the game at 3 p.m. means high temperatures and humidity in San Pedro Sula, but it also comes in the middle of a work day, potentially hurting the chances for fans to attend the game. So what is one to do?

How about declare a national holiday! That's right, the government has given the country the afternoon off so people can attend the game and watch on television. More than 38,000 fans will pack Estadio Olimpico, and millions more will be glued to their sets.
