Carlos Bocanegra has returned to his Southern California roots after signing with Chivas USA today. The two-time World Cup veteran and Alta Loma, Calif. native has 110 caps and is the all-time leader in goalscoring for U.S. defenders with 14 international goals to his credit.
Bocanegra has a professional career that has spanned five countries, beginning in 2000 with the Chicago Fire when he earned the 2000 MLS Rookie of the Year award. Two years later, he was honored as the MLS Defender of the Year. The 34-year-old is one of a handful of U.S. players to ever wear the armband for both club and country, a feat he accomplished while playing with Fulham in the Premier League.
