- With the win, the USA has now advanced to the semifinal of the CONCACAF Gold Cup for the seventh consecutive time, and 11 times out of 12 total.
- Clarence Goodson, a University of Maryland product who was enjoying a homecoming of sorts, scored his fifth goal in a U.S. uniform. He has scored three of those five in the Gold Cup, and has now scored in three different Gold Cup tournaments (2009, 2011 and 2013).
- The one-goal, three-assist night gave Donovan 54 goals and 55 assists for his career. Donovan now has five goals and seven assists in five matches since his return to the National Team.
- Nick Rimando played his third career game against El Salvador, including his debut for the MNT, a 2-1 win Nov. 17, 2002, in Washington, D.C.
- The victory extended the USA’s overwhelming advantage to 16-1-5 in the lifetime series against El Salvador dating back to 1977. The U.S. has scored 51 goals in those matches.
