Texas has been a good home to the U.S. Men's National Team, particularly in the modern era. Since 1990, the U.S. holds an unbeaten 7-0-6 in the state. The most recent visit came in the semifinal of the 2011 Gold Cup in Houston, where Clint Dempsey scored to give the USA a 1-0 win against Panama.
The Cotton Bowl has been the most frequent host, the team going 5-0-2 there with four shutouts. Four of those matches came during the 1993 Gold Cup, including a 1-0 win against Honduras in the group phase.
Since everyone asks anyway, the USA has played Mexico four times here, with the series split at 1-1-2. Then again, the Mexican victory came all the way back in 1974!
Overall, the United States is 8-2-7 in the Lone Star State.
