Only the U.S. U-17s can have this much fun at 4:30 a.m. in an airport in Cyprus
The life of an international soccer player inevitably features some long-haul travel, and the youngsters on the U.S. Y-17 Women's World Cup Team got a healthy dose of that on Sept. 18 when they took two bus rides and three flights to get from Paphos, Cyprus to Lankaran, Azerbaijan.
The team left its hotel in Cyprus (where it had a great four-day training camp) at 2:45 a.m. for the 90-minute drive across the island to Larnaca. From there, the squad took a flight to Vienna, Austria, and transferred to a flight to the Azerbaijan capital city of Baku. There, the squad then boarded a charter flight (for many if not all of the players, their first-ever charter flight!) for the 45-minute jaunt down to Lankaran, site of the USA's World Cup opener against France on Sept. 22.
Morgan Stanton and Lauren Kaskie board the charter like A Boss
The USA's Utah duo of Darian Jenkins and Emily Bruder are happy to be in Azerbaijan
We made it! The USA arrives at its hotel in Lankaran[/FONT]
