On Dec. 3, Sports Illustrated named Miami Heat and USA Basketball star LeBron James as its Sportsman of the Year.

As you may remember, Women's World Cup champions were the Sportswomen of the Year in 1999, so the U.S. WNT would like to welcome LeBron into the "club"! We think he would have made a mighty fine center-forward, center-back or goalkeeper for sure.

This would be a good time to look back at that cover (below). The shoot was done in North Carolina and a little known story is that the players had done a photo shoot a few days earlier in which many of the uniforms were ruined. Therefore, instead of having everyone in the same color, they had to use both colors (red and white back then), but as it turned out, it actually looked great. How young does Christie Rampone look? If you were born in 2000 or after, and you can name all the players on this cover, well done!
