Much of the media focus here in Mexico has been on the performance of El Tri in the first two matches, having come away with two points from the first two games. Opening at home against Jamaica, the Mexican team walked out with a scoreless draw after the massive crowd at Azteca jeered the team following what they felt was an unsatisfactory performance.
In San Pedro Sula, the Mexicans had a dream start and jumped ahead 2-0, only to see Honduras coming roaring back and erase the two-goal deficit with goals in the 77th and 80th minutes. Disappointed not to have taken three points after putting so much into a game where temperatures passed the 100-degree mark, Mexico enters this game under pressure to get three points against its biggest rival. It's been pointed out many times that winning games at home is critical to qualifying for the World Cup, and anything less than a win in their second home game of the Hexagonal would be seen as a huge setback.
