New Coaching Through COVID Webinar Series Helps Coaches and Clubs Survive COVID-19

With the vision statement: “United Soccer Coaches is the trusted and unifying voice, advocate, and partner for coaches of all levels of the game” it is timely that the largest coaching organization in the world provides an innovative approach to brainstorming and sharing information.

United Soccer Coaches has unveiled the upcoming “Coaching Through COVID” six-part webinar series. Starting next Tuesday, April 14 at 2 PM (CST), the FREE online program kicks off with a session on how youth organizations can deal with the impact of COVID-19.

Tackling the toughest topic first, “Your Youth Soccer Organization Can Survive COVID-19,” the Coaching Through COVID webinar will feature Steve Danbusky, Executive Director Beach FC (Va.) and Club Champions League President; Andy Haile, Associate Law Professor, Elon University School of Law and United Soccer Coaches Board Member; Skip Gilbert, US Youth Soccer CEO; Paul Ellis, Technical Director for Southwestern Youth Association (Va.); and Bo Eskay, FC Frederick (Md.) Executive Director.

The Coaching Through COVID episodes will be hosted by Dean Linke. Each episode will feature a different topic and different presenters.

“We wanted to give our coaches and their clubs real-world support for getting through the Covid19 crises,” said Lynn Berling-Manuel, CEO of United Soccer Coaches, who believes it will take much more than the X’s and O’s to survive and thrive in the Coronavirus COVID-19 aftermath.

Berling Manuel was quoted recently in the Wall Street Journal’s Coronavirus Could Cause Youth Sports Recession stating “that by the time it’s safe to resume play, as many as 25-30% of youth soccer clubs in the U.S. could have folded.”

It will take leadership, a level head and learning from each other.

“Our goal as an association is for all of our members to come out of this stronger than ever. Our presenters are committed to that,” said Berling-Manuel.

The second episode will take place two days later on Thursday, April 16 at 2 PM (CST) with a pair of United Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame members, former USWNT Mental Skills Coach Dr. Colleen Hacker and North Carolina Women’s Head Coach Anson Dorrance, speaking on “Keeping it Positive in an Unpredictable World.”

The remaining four episodes will occur on subsequent Tuesdays starting on April 21 at 1 p.m. CT with Chelsea FC Women’s Manager Emma Hayes and United Soccer Coaches Past President and current FIFPRO Chief Women’s Football Officer Amanda Vandervort on “Effective Leadership Through Tough Times.”

Other featured speakers include Christian Lavers, President, ECNL, Eric Wynalda, Head Coach, Las Vegas Lights FC and Jim Cosgrove, Former Executive Director, US Youth Soccer
