After A Long Moratorium Due to COVID-19, Arizona Soccer Association Restarts Youth Soccer This Weekend

In Arizona, youth soccer is kicking off again this weekend … The decision to Return-to-Play adheres to Arizona Executive Orders, CDC guidelines, and local directive and clubs are asked to follow strict safety protocols but soccer balls will be kicked across green fields starting tomorrow.

Arizona Soccer Association (ASA) has suspended soccer since March 13th and has kept a close watch on the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, US Youth Soccer state association in Arizona is giving the green light for their youth soccer clubs to allow their 45,000 players to return to play soccer. US Youth Soccer is the largest youth soccer organization in the country.

DPL LAUNCHES GIRLS ACADEMY LEAGUE AFTER DA DEMISE

DPL Offers New Alternative for Former Girls DA Teams

The DPL was initially launched to provide a second tier to the U.S. Soccer Girls Development Academy (DA). Providing the same training environment as the DA, the idea was to enable an easy transition for advancement. Started in Southern California, 24 youth soccer clubs have taken advantage of competing in the DPL, reflecting a total of 144 teams playing in 3 conferences; Southwest, West, and Frontier.



Highly popular and well respected, the DPL worked well for the clubs participating and will now be restructured and enhanced. A new tier, the Girls Academy League, has been created by the DPL to provide an opportunity for former Girls DA Clubs offers to fill the void left by the DA.

US Youth Soccer Leads Development of New Elite Soccer Platform

With the goal of helping the disenfranchised youth soccer teams that participated in U.S. Soccer’s Development Academy, US Youth Soccer steps up. On April 15, 2020, U.S. Soccer shut the DA citing the financial impact of COVID-19 as one of the reasons.

The wake of the U.S. Soccer Federation’s decision to close the country’s elite youth soccer player development, the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, left a void. While the MLS has stepped up with an option, and US Club‘s ECNL has provided a home for several of America’s top clubs, US Youth Soccer also has announced a solution.
