Every great journey has a first step. This was one of them...in the Beep Test.http://sitelife.ussoccer.com/ver1.0...0185aaf2-c113-4686-9caa-20e7f1d3e738.Full.jpg

The U.S. WNT hit the field -- both plastic and grass -- today for the first time in 2013 and clearly the ladies are glad to be back together and embarking on another journey.

Like all the others in the past, this one will take twists and turns and no one knows how it will end, but everyone knows it will be worth the ride.

The U.S. team did some of its standard testing in the morning, running through some timed sprints of various distances, some agility testing and the Beep Test. To no one's surprise, it was KAO and HAO -- Kelley O'Hara and Heather O'Reilly -- standing at the end (Is Irish blood thicker with oxygen?). O'Hara just edged O'Reilly for the best score, but there are many more Beep Tests to come over the next few years with higher scores for sure in the offing.

The U.S. team will train at least once a day and sometimes twice leading up to the first match of 2013 on Saturday, Feb. at EverBank Field. New head coach Tom Sermanni will named 18 players from the training camp roster to suit up for the match.

For now, it's back to work.
