The U.S. U-17 WNT only got a brief glimpse of Baku on the way into Azerbaijan as it changed planes at the airport on its way from its pre-tournament training camp in Cyprus to the site of its first Women's World Cup match in Lankaran, which is in the southern part of the country.

The U.S. team did the reverse trip this afternoon, boarding the 45-minute charter flight to the capital city. The Azerbaijan U-17 Women's National Team actually took the plane down from Baku, as the hosts will be playing their next match in Lankaran, and the USA hopped on the same plane for the quick trip back up.
After the USA faced France in Lankaran, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar and his wife Faith visited with the U.S. team
So far the U.S. team has been extremely impressed with the modern and cosmopolitan city that features some amazing architecture and seems to be growing by the minute, with building everywhere.
The team will hold its first training in Baku tomorrow, on artificial turf, the same surface the Americans will play on for its final two group games, and then face Gambia on Sept. 25 at Dalga Arena (8 a.m. ET on ESPN3) in a crucial Group B match.
The USA and France are currently tied with one point each behind Korea DPR, that earned the full three with a rout of Gambia on the first match day.[/FONT]
