Long Island Junior Soccer League to Host a Virtual Summit

New York Soccer News: The Virtual Summit replaces the LIJSL Convention for 2021

The Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL), the largest league in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA), started its LIJSL Convention in 1983.

The convention was renowned for having “something for everyone” as thousands of soccer fans would flock to the Huntington Hilton every March. The 38th Annual LIJSL Convention was cancelled in 2020, an obviously correct decision, as New York became Ground Zero for the pandemic.

Although the LIJSL cannot host its convention again this year, plans are afoot to hold a Virtual Summit next weekend on March 13 and 14. This digital event will kick off the 2021 Spring Season with two full days of soccer related content.

“The Convention has routinely served as the bridge between our Fall and Spring Seasons, as well as, the ceremonial kick-off of soccer on Long Island in the spring for 37 years. With the fluidness of the COVID-19 pandemic and uncertainty to hosting an in-person event, the league wanted to ensure that we could continue providing all levels of our membership with the engagement that they look forward to each spring,” said Steve Padaetz, LIJSL Managing Director.

Across both days, attendees can expect meetings, interactive forums, workshops, educational presentations and much more. Summit components are designed for diverse aspects of League membership: players, their families, coaches, club administrators and club presidents.

“If the past year has taught us anything, it is the ability to adapt to virtual events and presentations,” Padaetz said. “We, as a league, are eager to offer the Virtual Summit to our membership this March.”
